Selection Process

The selection of apprentices will be based on the following stages:

  1. Merit List Creation:

    • A state-wise and category-wise merit list will be generated based on marks obtained in the 12th Class/Diploma/Graduation examinations.
  2. Document Verification:

    • Candidates will be required to present original documents for verification.
  3. Medical Examination:

    • A medical examination will be conducted to ensure the candidates are fit for the apprenticeship.

Canara Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2024: Terms and Conditions

Canara Bank is inviting applications for the Apprentice Recruitment 2024. Below are the essential terms and conditions that candidates should be aware of:

1. Period of Apprenticeship Training

  • Duration: The apprenticeship training will last for one year.

2. Place of Training

  • Training Location: On-job training will be conducted at selected branches according to the specified course curriculum.

3. Apprentice Profile

  • Designation: Apprentice
  • Employment Status: Apprentices will not be treated as employees of Canara Bank and will not receive employee benefits.

4. Stipend Details

  • Monthly Stipend: Rs. 15,000/- (includes any applicable government subsidies).
    • Breakdown:
      • Rs. 10,500/- will be credited to the apprentice’s bank account each month.
      • Rs. 4,500/- will be directly credited via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as per government guidelines.
  • Additional Benefits: Apprentices are not eligible for other allowances or benefits.

5. Work Hours

  • Apprentices will undergo On Job Training (OJT) during the working hours applicable to the bank’s clerical cadre.

6. Overtime Policy

  • Overtime work is not allowed unless approved by the Apprenticeship Adviser, who must confirm it serves the training’s best interest.

7. Leave Policy

  • Casual Leave:
    • Apprentices are entitled to 1 Casual Leave (CL) after completing one month of training, totaling 12 CLs in a year.
    • A maximum of 4 casual leaves can be taken at once.
    • Accumulated leave will be forfeited upon termination or completion of the apprenticeship.

8. Holiday Entitlement

  • Apprentices will observe holidays as per the bank’s schedule where they are undergoing training.

9. Conduct and Discipline

  • Misconduct may result in the termination of the apprenticeship contract.
  • Apprentices are prohibited from joining or forming any union bodies.

10. Termination of Contract

  • The apprenticeship contract will end upon completion of the training period.
  • Either party may apply for termination through the Apprenticeship Adviser.
  • The contract may also be terminated if the apprentice fails to report to the training venue or is found guilty of misconduct, following a 7-day notice.

11. Additional Information

  • Legal Provisions: Labor laws regarding PF, ESI, and Bonus do not apply to apprentices.
  • Employment Obligation: Canara Bank is under no obligation to provide regular employment during or after the apprenticeship. Candidates will be relieved from their respective positions post-apprenticeship.
  • Waitlist: A state-category wise waitlist will be maintained for one year from the results date. Candidates will only be released from this waitlist against non-joining, subject to availability of qualified candidates.
