The Indian Army invites applications from unmarried male candidates for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES-53). Eligible candidates must have completed their 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and appeared in the JEE (Mains) 2024.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Nationality
Candidates must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A person of Indian origin from specific countries, holding a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.
Note: Gorkha subjects from Nepal do not require this certificate.
2. Age Limit
- Candidates must be between 16½ and 19½ years old on the first day of the month the course begins (i.e., born between 01 Jan 2006 and 01 Jan 2009).
3. Educational Qualification
- Minimum of 60% marks in PCM in the 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
- Must have appeared for JEE (Mains) 2024.
4. Medical Standards
- Candidates must meet the medical standards specified by the Indian Army. Visit joinindianarmy.nic.in for details.
5. Legal Standing
- Candidates should not have been debarred from any UPSC examination or involved in any criminal cases.

Commission Type
Upon successful completion of the 4-year course, cadets will be granted a Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.
Training Details
Total Training Duration: 4 Years
- Phase I: Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training (3 years at CME Pune/MCTE Mhow/MCEME Secunderabad).
- Phase II: One year at IMA Dehradun or designated PCTA.
Degree Award
Candidates will receive an Engineering degree upon completion of the training. No ante-date seniority will be given based on the degree.
Cost of Training
- Training cost: ₹13,940 per week (as of 2021). The state bears this cost, which may be recovered from candidates withdrawing for personal reasons.
Promotion Criteria
The Indian Army TES-53 Course 2025 offers a clear pathway for promotions among its officers. Promotions start with automatic commissioning as a Lieutenant. Officers progress to the rank of Captain after completing two years of service. Further advancements occur at specific intervals: Major after six years, Lieutenant Colonel after thirteen years, and Colonel (TS) after twenty-six years. Higher ranks, such as Brigadier and Major General, are based on merit and organizational requirements, ensuring that promotions are systematic and performance-based.
Salary Structure
The salary structure for officers in the TES-53 Course is competitive and well-defined. A Lieutenant earns between ₹56,100 and ₹1,77,500, while a Captain‘s salary ranges from ₹61,300 to ₹1,93,900. As officers advance in rank, their pay increases significantly; for example, a Colonel earns between ₹1,30,600 and ₹2,15,900. Additionally, all officers from Lieutenant to Brigadier receive Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹15,500 per month, enhancing their overall financial package.
Additional Allowances
Officers benefit from various allowances that complement their salaries. The Children Education Allowance provides ₹2,250 per month per child for two children, ensuring educational needs are met. Additionally, a Hostel Subsidy of ₹6,750 per month per child is available for the two eldest surviving children, supporting families as they manage educational expenses.
Insurance and Disability Benefits
The Army Group Insurance Scheme offers substantial financial protection, providing a coverage of ₹15 lakh for cadets. In the event of disability, the scheme ensures that officers are supported with up to ₹25 lakh for 100% disability. This coverage emphasizes the Army’s commitment to the welfare and security of its personnel.
